Don’t Miss Your Opportunity!

The Fuse team participated in a lightening round survey this week asking about common missed opportunities we see online when it comes to simple ways that organizations can optimize their fundraising efforts.

Here are the results:

  • An Eye-Catching Donate Button on the Home Page: Trust us … it’s well worth it!

  • Mobile Email & Website Optimization: If you’ve been putting it off … it really is that important. A significant amount of donor activity takes place via mobile devices. It’s over an afterthought, but it matters!

  • Making it Easy (and easy to find!) to Give Through Donor Advised Funds: This is an absolute must given current giving trends.

  • Think User Experience: Seamless scrolling, quick load times, branded/bold colors and easy-to-read text.

  • Accessibility: Make sure your website and digital communication environments are inclusive.

  • Capturing Donor Information: Donor’s phone number, email, birthday.

o   CRITICAL: Thinking through the experience for someone once they give you the information. If you ask for the information – use it! Welcome series, engagement opportunities, birthday fundraiser pushes! The list goes on!

o   NOTE: This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should add more fields to your donation form. The longer forms are, the less likely it is someone will complete. You can always ask for this information in surveys.

  • Utilizing Video Content: There really is no better way to tell your story.

  • Optimized Landing Pages for Frictionless Engagement/Donor Experience: Setting up ad campaigns is a lot of work, but ensuring your landing pages are optimized to complete those transactions and maximize response is key!

So, if you hear opportunity knocking when it comes to your online fundraising program, it’s time to answer – especially leading up to the all-important calendar-year-end giving season!
