Getting to Know Candice:
Q: How do you like to spend your free time away from the wonderful world of direct response?
A: My youngest will be leaving for college next year, so I am still working on finding ways to fill my time in this new phase of life. I currently like to spend time traveling, reading and watching trash TV.Q: Tell us about a favorite campaign that you’ve worked on.
A: My favorite was for a small children’s charity and one of my first test ideas. There was a sick child in their care who had folded 1,000 origami swans, which symbolize wishes coming true. We featured his story in a campaign, developing a multi-channel strategy which included a piece of origami paper, instructions on how to fold it and a push online with videos of him making the cranes. Well, the adage is – don’t love a package too much. It did not perform in the way we hoped. But I still love this child and his origami cranes.Q: What do you think is in store for our industry in the future?
A: The industry is at a critical juncture. Technology provides us an endless variety of bright, shiny tools, and it can be easy to get distracted by the glitz and lose sight of the foundation needed for a strong program. Organizations must break down siloes, invest wisely across channels and not be afraid to make thoughtful, programmatic changes to truly meet donors where they are. Letting our experience guide the technology and not the other way around will be imperative.Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
A: Teleportation, without a doubt.Q: What was your dream job as a child?
A: I was going to be an actress or a doctor.Q: If you had to choose a different career path, what would it be?
A: I think that I would want to be in design in some capacity. Interior or furniture design.Q: What would be your entrance song?
A: My rising sign is Leo, so I should have a great entrance song. But I really prefer to quietly sneak in the back.Q: If you were a brand, what would your slogan be?
A: There is always an easier way.Q: Fill in the blank: The quickest way to my heart is _____________.
A: with kitten videos
